In this season at Trinity Church Nottingham, we’ll be journeying through the four songs found at the beginning of Luke’s gospel and considering the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, as we approach Christmas together.

The word ‘Advent’ means arrival. Whether we mean it or not, it's easy for Christmas to get swept up in the hurry, noise and overconsumption which dominates much of our modern culture. Advent offers us an alternative path, where we can slow down at this busy time of year, to intentionally reflect on God’s arrival in Jesus Christ, and to look forward to the day when Jesus comes again to make all things new.

Advent is no less than a rebellion against the incessant fretting of the world, and an invitation to practice the uncomfortable art of waiting. Waiting on God, and waiting for God.

Over the next month, we’ll be releasing a weekly devotional podcast journey so please keep an eye on this page and our Instagram as these resources get uploaded! We have crafted prayers for each week of Advent which we invite you to use in prayerful reflection and to guide your response (see a sneak preview below!).
